To introduce myself and talk a little bit about who I am and what i’m about so that this blog makes more sense, i’ll start with it’s purpose. My name is Laura Aporado (alias Lemon). I’m eighteen years old and as of September this year, I began my degree in Animation Arts at UCA Maidstone, England. The existence of this blog is, I have to admit, mainly down to the fact that our course requires us to keep an online portfolio of sorts throughout the three years we study here in the form of a blogging account, but I also want to create an identity for myself as a developing animator and form a collection of work.
If someone asked me to explain when I first became interested in animation, I don’t think I could pinpoint a particular ‘memorable moment’ because there wasn’t one. Like most people of my generation I watched many cartoons as a kid and I grew up with a myriad of classic Disney films, but at that point in my life they were really only a form of entertainment and nothing more. However after seeing animated films such as Toy Story, Nightmare Before Christmas and Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, I became interested in the physical techniques behind their production. I was curious – I wanted to know which processes were used, from start to finish.
